SFX Engine generates royalty-free sound effects from a text prompt and also makes background music, voiceover and stem splits from the same credit pool. Plans are published: Starter $10 a month for 500 credits (about 166 sound effects), Creator $25 and Pro $90, with 20% off yearly. New accounts get 15 trial credits, but downloading and commercial use need a paid plan.
Best for Indie devs who need lots of custom sound effects quickly without licensing a library.
Pros
- Clear per-sound pricing: 3 credits per effect, up to 47 seconds, up to four takes per prompt.
- Commercial, royalty-free use is included on every paid plan, and the official FAQ names games explicitly.
- A free public library of sounds can be browsed and downloaded without a plan.
Cons
- No ongoing free plan; trial sounds cannot be downloaded until you pay.
- Each take costs credits, so iterating on one sound adds up.
- Generated SFX still need mixing and implementation in your engine or middleware.
